Perl IDE and Editor Poll, November 2009 - What other technologies, languages, templating systems are you using besides Perl?

What other technologies, languages, templating systems are you using besides Perl?

A month ago I asked you what editor or IDE are you using for writing Perl code. While almost 50% of the votes went to vi or emacs and are unlikely to change that, we in the Padre development team belive that there are many people who are not that satisfied with the current development environment they have. So we are trying to build an environment that for some people will be better for Perl development. Along with that objective we would like to make sure that your editor won't be narrow minded and will support other languages as well. We would like to provide at least syntax highlighting to the languages and formats you are using. If possible we will go further and provide additional tools for you to make it easy to work with those languages.

Hence in a poll in November 2009 I asked What other technologies, languages, templating systems are you using besides Perl?. In the hope that people will mark the most important technologies for them I limited the number of answer to 5. Some people commented that it is not enough for them but I think mostly they understood they need to answer the 5 most important ones. The poll was open between 13-18 November 2009, it was promoted via the same channels as the previous poll. We received 1603 answers from a few hundred people. Due to the shortcomings of the free version of the poll software we don't know the exact number of people who voted.

Comments

One of the reasons I wanted to run this poll is so that people who are interested in helping the development of Padre will know what parts might be more needed.

If I could track the users separately and the answers separately, I could have probably allowed any number of answers as I wanted in the beginning but even then I'd like to see which are more important to a person and which are less important.
